Teach students to build with AI.

VIBE Afterschool is a free, open framework where grades 7–12 students learn vibe coding — building real apps, tools, and solutions by describing what they want and collaborating with AI to make it. Guided by professionals who already use AI every day.

Why it exists

The tools are ready. The students deserve access.

AI is changing how work gets done in every industry. Students who learn to collaborate with these tools early will have a meaningful advantage. Most will not touch them until college or later.

VIBE closes that gap. Any school can run it, most pilots launch on existing resources, and the entire framework is published under CC BY 4.0 so every document, session plan, and template is free to adapt and share.

The framework

Four phases. Twelve weeks. One shipped project.

One afternoon a week. A small cohort of grades 7–12 students. A few local professionals who actually use AI in their work. Each letter of VIBE is a phase of the program — and the stage of what students are doing in the room.

VWeeks 1–3

Venture

Students try the tools, learn to iterate, and meet a professional who builds with AI every day. Comfort and curiosity, not mastery.

IWeeks 4–6

Imagine

A second field, a second perspective. Students imagine their own project and scope it down to something they can actually finish.

BWeeks 7–10

Build

Four focused sprints. Every student builds a real thing with AI as collaborator, not shortcut. Working beats beautiful.

EWeeks 11–12

Emerge

Students prep a three-minute presentation and ship their work at a public showcase. Families, administrators, and community invited.
